Sennheiser MKH 8040 cardioidHere's another very versatile microphone in the 8000 series from Sennheiser - the MKH 8040 cardioid. It has the same wide frequency response as the 8050 - 30 to 50,000 Hz and the same symmetrical transducer with 2 backplates providing extremely low distortion and noise. it also has the same non reflective Nextel coating. And there are 3 Rycote windshield options you lucky people! The windshield kit 9 MZL is very small and light and connects directly to the microphone capsule using the screw fit MZL connector. Choose this option if your priority is reducing the size and weight and you don't want to use the MZX XLR adaptor which is supplied with the microphone. If you'd rather connect to the microphone via the XLR adaptor you have a further 2 options:- Either windshield kit 10 - it's not much bigger than the 9 or a small Cyclone kit which gives improved performance but is a little bit more expensive.
